    'Iodine Deficiency, Overload a Tricky Balance (HealthDay)For decades, Americans have avoided iodine deficiency by consuming salt specially fortified with iodine. But a new study out of China suggests that, in some cases, fortification can lead to excessive iodine intake, which has its own health risks.

    'HPV Vaccine Recommended for Girls Aged 11-12 (American Cancer Society)A federal advisory panel is recommending that a new vaccine for human papilloma virus (HPV) be routinely given to girls aged 11-12. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices also said the vaccine, called Gardasil, may be given to girls as young as 9, if doctors think it's necessary.
